Different sources serve different purposes, and selecting the right ones is key to producing strong academic work. This interactive workshop will help you recognize source types—such as scholarly, popular, trade, primary, secondary, and tertiary— and practice evaluating which types of sources best support your academic work.

    Through hands-on activities, you’ll:

    • Identify and classify source types using real-world examples.
    • Match sources to research needs, recognizing their role in different assignments.
    • Evaluate credibility and usefulness using criteria such as authority, purpose, and relevance.

By the end, you’ll be able to choose and evaluate sources with confidence, strengthening your research papers, projects, and presentations.

This workshop will be hosted in the new Student Commons. Please head to the back of the space—we’ll be meeting in the Seminar Room.
